An extension into the front garden on a southern sloping site, encouraged a different approach to this design.

 

The existing single storey cottage did not have sufficient accommodation for the growing family and was located at the back of the block. A second storey would have satisfied the space required, however this would have resulted in a very elevated house, well above the street.

 

We kept the existing rear cottage for the Bedrooms and built the new Living spaces at the front of the block over a new entry and double garage. These spaces then embraced the southern views towards the city. The new extension was pulled away from the cottage allowing for an internal Courtyard housing a Pool and enabling northern solar access into the new spaces. The result was a home for easy living with large open spaces enjoying both aspects.
