NEW DWELLING -  1994 | ALTERATIONS - 2019 | ROBERTSON

We built this holiday house for a young family many years ago, adapting to the steep hill by using a steel portal frame that needed as little piering into the ground as possible, and using lightweight timber walls with both timber cladding and linings. 25 years on we were invited back to the same project to renovate and freshen the house up without actually changing the footprint. The timber cladding, decking and roofing were all at the end of life and the decision was made to use more durable steel as wall cladding and composite material for the decking. The old ply interior to lighten the palette, but to still give the warmth of a timber house.
